Had Greg Oden played this season he would have led the Blazers to a 44-38 record, good enough for sixth place in the West. At least that’s what ESPN.com is reporting after running a season simulation on the video game NBA Live ‘08. According the the game, Oden would have averaged 14.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2 blocks per game and led the Blazers to game seven of the first round before losing to San Antonio. Without Oden the Blazers are predicted to finish with a record of 30-52, finish in last place in the west, and tie Indiana for the worst overall record. It seems hard to believe that either of those scenarios would have actually happened. But if the the prediction was for 44 wins this season, think of what that could mean next year when the rest of the young players have had time to develop.
If you’re wondering how Greg’s rehab is going you can check out this video that he posted on his blog of him working out in a pool. He didn’t make it on the basketball team but maybe there’s still time for synchronized swimming in the ‘08 Olympics.
Also, don’t forgot about the “Get Well Greg” wishes and pictures to send to the Oden For ROY Myspace page or here at the ClubBlazers.com forums.
