Oden’s Knee

If you’ve just returned from some foreign land and don’t already know, Greg Oden is going to have arthroscopic knee surgery to find out why his knee has been bothering him. I’m not going to post anything on here about it because most of the info out right now is just speculation, rumor and what-if talk. After the surgery we will know just what is going on inside G.O.’s knee. The only thing for certain now is that it will take at least six weeks for Oden to recovery from the exploratory surgery. Until then, the best person to look to for news is the big man himself:

“On my vacation earlier this summer i got up off the couch and remember my knee having a sharp pain in it. That was about a month ago. I didn’t tell anyone because i didn’t want to seem like i was complaining or making excuses for anything.”

Everyone needs to just step back, take a few deep breaths, and don’t overreact. Part of the reason that Greg didn’t say anything about his knee problem was that he didn’t want people to think he was “soft” or “high maintenance”. Let’s all wait and see what the doctors have to say, and show our support for Oden. He doesn’t need to deal with being compared with Sam Bowie when we haven’t even started training camp yet.
