Nate McMillan - Western Conference December Coach of the Month

NEW YORK (TICKER) — Nate McMillan and Flip Saunders were named the NBA Coaches of the Month for December on Wednesday.

Dealing with the league’s youngest roster, McMillan guided the Portland Trail Blazers to a 13-2 record for the month. The club had its 13-game winning streak stopped with Monday’s loss at Utah.

Portland (18-13) is in second place in the Northwest Division, one-half game behind Denver.

Saunders guided the Detroit Pistons to an impressive 15-2 record in December. The 15 wins were a club record for for the month.

Boasting the league’s second-best record, Detroit (24-7) holds a comfortable 9 1/2-game lead over Indiana in the Central Division.
