Interesting, I like the list. What were the things you used to rank them.

Maybe have a top 10 per generation (i.e. 50's-80's to 90's-current), because I would argue that Chuck Berry should be in your top 10.

Also George Benson is well known for his world class guitar skills.

CTC, ahhh, I see, they are all very good.

OK, that would explain why you don't have someone like Elvis in there, because The King brought more to rock n' roll than "what his name is now who is formally known as Prince".

ahhh, mine is more older generation, that is why I was thinking of splitting it up.

Mine is based more on impact & accomplishments in their music world:
1) Jimmie Hendrix - rock
2) Jimmy Page, Led Zepplin - rock
3) Eliv Presley - rock & country
4) Carlos Santana - rock & jazz
5) Eddie Van Halen - rock
6) George Benson - jazz
7) Garth Brooks - country
8) Chuck Berry - rock
9) Hank Williams Jr., country
10) John Mellancamp, rock

I'm really surprised that most of you left Clapton off your lists...he has to be one of the more influential guitarists of all time.

I'd have to add the Motor city madman to that list Ted could play a mean Birdland and cuss out Mildred Shwab without missing a chord at the old Paramount. Anyways he has a pretty good 3 minute solo about 3 mins. in this vid may be rated R for some. :jam2:

No mention of Jerry Cantrell in this thread is sickening.
